Coletta originally started her career in the health care field, which she followed for almost 10 years but, after taking some online accounting classes, it quickly became clear that the accounting field was her calling. “Math was my favorite subject in school and I enjoy problem solving,” Coletta explains, “I also enjoy all the intricate pieces that make up a tax return for both individual and business returns. I like to read up on the new tax laws and how they affect us and our clients.”
With a true interest in helping people, Coletta’s move to Mengali Accountancy was a natural fit. Coletta recalls her initial impression of Mengali Accountancy as, “Very professional with a great work culture. The team is very open and supportive and each personal brings something different to the table which gives us a very wide knowledge base.”
Before joining Mengali Accountancy in 2017, Coletta served as a Bookkeeper for another tax & accounting firm in Petaluma for nearly 3 years and has over 6 years’ experience in the field as a trained Bookkeeper.
Coletta graduated from Empire College with a Specialized Associates Degree in
Accounting with Presidents Honors. Additionally, Coletta holds certifications in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and payroll processing. She also served as President of the Institute of Management Accountants Redwood Student Chapter from 2013 to 2014.
THE REAL COLETTA
Coletta is a native of the South Pacific island country of Fiji but she journeyed to the United
States with her family in 2003. She was attracted to Sonoma County by its likeness to her Fiji
home. “There’s so much greenery here and the Pacific Ocean is not too far away,” she
explains. Having grown up on an island surrounded by the vast Pacific, Coletta has a
genuine love for the ocean. “However, I don’t get out to the coast here as much as I
would like,” she confesses. Nevertheless, you may be surprised to learn that she is
terrified of lakes!
A true family woman, Coletta is devoted to spending time with her
husband and four boys. “My kids are my pride and joy,” she confirms.
Outside of work, you will find Coletta spending quality time with her
family; whether at the park, going to the movies, playing video games,
or even camping out in their backyard. Additionally, Coletta and her
family are big Golden State Warriors fans and have fun together
watching their favorite team play. Go Dubs!
Coletta is also an avid food and cooking enthusiast. “We're big foodies!” she
professes, “We love cooking and trying out new recipes and restaurants, especially
foods from different cultures.” Coletta is always up for trying something new,
admitting, “I will eat just about anything!” But, a few of her favorite meals include
lasagna, sushi, steak, and GOOD fish and chips (which she admits are hard to find).
Some of Coletta’s favorite restaurant spots include Ca’bianca, Galpao Gaucho in
Napa (a Brazilian Steakhouse), and Steele & Hops, “This is my new-found gem for fish and chips!” Coletta reveals.
